It's a big challenge to properly equip special post-delivery intensive care units for mothers and newborns at the National Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery.

Every year in Ukraine, more than 2,000 mothers-to-be are risking their lives due to cardiovascular pathologies. In 75% of cases, it is possible to save both a mother and a baby if help is provided in time. Nowadays, due to the COVID pandemic, it is needed more than ever.

Today, the Amosov Institute is the only facility that has an obstetric cardiology program.

Here, cardio surgeons and obstetricians help women prepare for childbirth, perform heart surgery if it is necessary to have those women go through labor safely.
