Billboard is a type of outdoor advertising in the form of a board, usually placed along streets or highways. Then why are both “billboard” and “bigboard” mentioned in the sources of information? Let’s figure out what is correct.

Bigboard is actually what it is – a big board, which clearly describes the essence of advertising boards.

The largest and the first advertising company in Ukraine is called BigBoard Group (today BigBoard Group/JCDecaux Holding.) So, the name of the company became the name of the product and the company’s title became a generic word. Therefore, “billboard” is correct, and BigBoard is the name of the company.
